Time: 14:00 GMT Tuesday, 18th May 2021

BST 14:00-16:00 London

Check your time here

1. Introduction

2. Talks [15 mins for each]

(1). Palynological studies in Jangareddygudem area of Chintalapudi sub basin, India

Harinam Joshi (BSIP Lucknow India)

Short abstract: NA

(2). Holocene vegetation changes in Eastern Central China based on the REVEALS model

Yao Zhang ( Lanzhou University )

Short Abstract: The Qinling Mountain Range represents the current transition zone between the temperate and subtropical ecosystems of Eastern Central China. Here, we reconstruct past regional land-cover changes by applying the REVEALS model to pollen records from the temperate, temperate–subtropical transition, and subtropical vegetation zones (Tianchi Lake, Daye Lake, and the Dajiuhu wetland, respectively).

------ Questions & Biobreak ------ [5-8 mins]

(3). Investigating the possibility of boreal tree taxa presence in CIS Baikal (Eastern Siberia) during the LGM using pollen records

Franziska Kobe ( Freie Universität Berlin )

Short abstract: This study examines whether and where boreal tree and shrub taxa could have survived the Last Glacial Maximum, using new and published pollen data from taiga-dominated eastern Siberia.

(4). Scrutiny on the differential preservation and representation of pollen types in sediments and the implications for palaeoecology

Sylvester Obigba ( University of Ibadan )

Short abstract: The unusual patterns of representation of certain pollen types in Holocene palynomorph records from West Africa became seemingly puzzling. The necessity to investigate the causative factors responsible for this dynamism and differential occurrence was imminent since this has impacted on understanding vegetation history. A few possibilities were unraveled and presented.

------ Questions & Biobreak------ [5-8 mins]
